Ever feel like quitting? That’s when you need bulldog faith, because when God puts a dream in your heart it’s worth fighting for… even though the devil, discouraging people, difficulties and all kinds of obstacles come against you to try and stop you becoming all that God created you to be, and achieving your destiny.
That’s why you must decide today: “I am not a quitter” and make up your mind to be unstoppable by fighting the good fight of faith and practicing the power of persistence.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith.
Hebrews 10:35-36 (NIV) Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.
2 Corinthians 4:8 (MSG) We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do.
A Quitter Never Wins and a Winner Never Quits
If you’re stuck in a rut, disappointed by an outcome, hurting from a wound, failing in an endeavor, struggling in a relationship, or unsure about the future… don’t quit!! Don’t give up on yourself, and don’t give up on the Lord and His great promises.
Persistence is bulldog tenacity and is the power to endure — no matter what — until you win!! It’s the stickability factor, the staying power that keeps on keeping on until your dreams and desires manifest. It’s the opposite of quitters disease.
Get permanently cured of QUITTERS DISEASE. The problem with most people is that when they face trials, stressful circumstances and roadblocks to their dreams they catch quitters disease and give up! They get discouraged by life’s setbacks, difficulties and disappointments and hit a psychological low and just throw in the towel… the real problem is the more you want to quit, then the more you want to quit and the more you want to quit UNTIL you end up with quitters disease.
Your Future Does Not Have to Look Like Your Past
Life-altering news: We do not have to be defined by past failures or mediocrity; we can move forward into the plans and purposes of God available to us right now. God has greater things in store for each of us, and all we have to do is take hold of them.
How can we achieve God’s promised victory when we face hard times? Make a decision today to trust in God’s ability and use the power of bulldog faith to overcome anything.
A great example of bulldog faith and the power of persistence can be seen in the life and ministry of the Revivalist John Wesley, who was the founder of the Methodist Church. Let’s take a glimpse inside the pages of this preacher’s diary…
- Sunday a.m. May 5: Preached in St. Anne’s: Was asked not to come back anymore.
- Sunday p.m. May 5: Preached at St. John’s: Deacons said, “Get out and stay out.”
- Sunday a.m. May 12: Preached at St. Jude’s: Can’t go back there either.
- Sunday p.m. May 12: Preached at St. George’s: Kicked out again.
- Sunday a.m. May 19: Preached at All Saints: Deacons called a special meeting and said I couldn’t return.
- Sunday p.m. May 19: Preached on the street corner. Kicked off the street!
- Sunday a.m. May 26: Preached out in a meadow. Chased out of meadow when a bull was turned loose during the service.
- Sunday a.m. June 2: Preached out at the edge of town. Kicked off the highway.
- Sunday p.m. June 2: Afternoon service, preached in a pasture. Ten thousand people came to hear the preaching of the Word.
John Wesley went from “Zero to Ten Thousand” because of his spiritual hunger for God, the flames of revival in his heart and the power of bulldog faith that made him unstoppable!
In the face of great adversity, obstacles and setbacks he kept pressing on and moving forward with intense focus and persistence, and his persistence eventually tore down all the resistance.
Bulldog faith brought Wesley real breakthrough. And crowds of 10,000 and 20,000 and 30,000 became the norm, attending his outdoor Gospel preaching campaigns.
This marked the turning point of Wesley’s remarkable ministry that powerfully impacted his generation, and ushered in a sweeping Holy Spirit revival to England and beyond.
Never, Never, Never Give Up
Persistence is a major factor that can move your life from good to great. Don’t waste any more time dwelling on the past and wishing things could be better or things could be different. Instead, dare to exercise the power of bulldog faith and never, never, never give up on the vision, dreams and desires God has placed within you.
